Islay is a single malt Scotch whiskey, [sic] aged 18 years, from the Islay Distillery established in 1827.
Henrietta Lange described it as "one of the finest Scotch whiskies ever made" when she shared a dram with Sam Hanna. When he asked appreciatively, "How much does this stuff cost?", she only smiled and said he would find out next paycheck.
- Islay is actually an island off the west coast of the Scottish highlands famous for its many whisky distilleries. None of the distilleries goes by the just the name Islay, and the bottle used in the episode was a bottle of Lagavulin with the labels altered.
- A bottle of 16-year-old Lagavulin sells for around $90, a bottle of 21-year-old sherry-casked Lagavulin sells for $250 to $600 depending on when it was bottled.
- The prop labels have a misspelling: Whiskey is the Irish spelling (also used in America), Whisky (no "e") is the correct Scottish spelling (also used in Canada and Japan).
